I meant to post this earlier but it did not save my draft so starting over.
On Tuesday we golfed at Bruntsfield Links - the 4th oldest golf club in the world. There were no cart girls so I struggled on the front 9 without my aiming fluid. My dad’s buddy James, said that it’s called golf because the other four letter words (f***, s***, and d***) were taken… However, I stopped at the clubhouse before the back 9 and picked up a few beers and played a lot better after that.. funny how that works. At one point, there were bagpipes playing in the background from the school close by - a very Scottish experience. I had to fight back the urge to yell “Freedom!”
After that we went to Avery, a Michelin star restaurant that was really good. They paired the 6-7 course meal with a new pour of wine/sake/whisky so I felt great the next morning 🤥
Speaking of the next morning, I guess I will just post today’s experience here as well.
As I said, I woke up feeling totally refreshed and well rested. The power outlets are different here so I have been charging my phone through my laptop. However, unbeknownst to me, my laptop was dead, so my phone died and did not charge at all during the night. I woke up to the group knocking on my door and telling me our driver was here. Our driver, Robert has a heavy accent that is tough to understand, it takes you a few minutes to translate what he said despite him speaking English. We made the 3 hour drive to Inverness and stopped at a few distilleries on the way. We are in the highlands of Scotland so the terrain here is very hilly, and there are a lot of sheep here on the farms.
We finished the evening at another whisky tour/experience and are back at the hotel now. I have a little bit of work to do so going to finish that and call it a night so I’m not late to our pick up again…
Here’s a gallery of some of what we saw yesterday and today
